Athens + 0.5 Sparta = Dynamopolis
The State of Dynamopolis is a combination of Sparta and Athens,
although its philosophies lean slightly more to the style of the latter. Dynamopolis takes military
protection very seriously, but trade and innovation are vital to the maintenance
of our prosperous society.
Dynamopolis follows the model of Athens more closely than Sparta because it want arts and education to be a focus within
the city walls. Athens, though not known for its military abilities, is a strong society for the simple reason that the economy functions well. Dynamopolis's economy, mainly consisting of common jobs such as farmers, fishermen, and merchants, also promotes the field of arts and values people's self expression. Businesses can thrive and that fuels the ability
for people to have improved life quality. Our goverment allows free enterprise so that individuals can make a profit by setting up their own businesses without having to pay the goverment a large amount of their revenue. Arts and education flourish within Athens and therefore culture is enriched. Dynamopolitans are encouraged to design ways of lowering production cost so that citizens will not have to pay as much for their necessities. Dynamopolis follows this method more closely because the people want this to happen within their homeland.
Sparta, well known for its military accomplishments, has higher economic problems. Everything is about fueling the army and not about the people. Although Dynamopolis isn't without its military capabilities, it does not worry solely about the military. Females have fairly high participation in society, similar to the way women run the households when the men are out conquering new territories. Although they cannot vote, they provide important contributions to the community and are vital to survival with this form of goverment. The Spartan military is very strong compared to the other city-states'. While the total force of Dynamopolis and Sparta during battle is slim, Dynamopolis would prefer to fight at sea. Sparta is more concerned with land skirmishes, so much so that they don't have any navy at all. One of the reasons Dynamopolis chose to take over Crete is that they wanted to put emphasis on the aquatic form of war. So, by following a model of Athens, infused with our own fresh perspective, the State improves its likelihood of success in core areas.
